Year 6-7 Transition

September 2024

Our Open Evening is on 27 September 2023 where we will be welcoming prospective students, parents/carers looking to join us for Year 7 in September 2024.

Once you have choses Heart of England for your child our Year 7 team, Mrs Simpson (Pastoral Manager) and Ms Lancaster (Academic Manager) will visit all of our feeder primary schools to meet all the children.

Later in the year we will hold our Transition Day when all our new Year 7 candidates will meet each other, our staff and get to know their new school a little. The day will be a great introduction to our school community and give everyone the chance to experience a variety of lessons, meet some staff and start to learn their way around the building.

Information evening for parents/carers will be held in school with a chance to meet staff, our Year 7 team and to have the opportunity to ask questions.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or queries, please do contact Mrs Simpson by emailing:

We look forward to getting to meet you all soon!

Welcome from the Principal

Dear Parents/Carers

I would like to offer a very warm welcome to you and your child as you join us at Heart of England.  As your child embarks on their secondary education, we are not only starting a relationship with them that will last for at least five years, we are also beginning a partnership with you.

Our shared vision for each and every student at Heart of England School is all about helping them to create their future in a culture rooted in our core values:

  • Honesty: Trust is about being truthful with one another; relationships work best when you can trust yourself and others
  • Determination: Success is built on hard work; facing challenges and conquering them, creating opportunities to achieve more than we thought we could
  • Courage: Taking risks, aspiring to be adventurous; being brave enough to try new things without fear of making mistakes en route to excellence
  • Humour: An essential ingredient; discovering the joy of learning to move forward through collaboration and listening
  • Kindness: To experience the generosity of others; understanding that we are all part of the learning   community, striving towards excellence together

We all appreciate that this is a big step for your child and for some of you. Many of us have been in the same position as you are in now and are here to help.
