The Heart of England Music department are opening their doors to Year 6 students coming to the school in September with a chance have a go on a musical instrument and to meet instrument teachers.
On Wednesday 24 May, we have invited all the Year 6 students who will be joining us in September as our new Year 7s to come and experience the musical instruments we have on offer to learn at Heart of England.
“It will be an informal session for people to drop in and to try out anything on offer,” said Mrs Henton. “You can have a go on any instruments and meet the instrument teachers.”
The Music Department will be open from 6.15pm with staff from Solihull Music Service and students who currently have lessons to help you find an instrument that is right for you. Teachers will be available to answer questions on how lessons work at secondary school, instrument advice and costs.
Mrs Henton said: “You and your child will be able to see our practice rooms as well as try things out. Instruments available include strings, brass, woodwind, drums, electric and acoustic guitar, piano and vocal lessons.”
Afterwards, there is an invite to stay for our Chamber Concert at 7.00pm. This will last approximately an hour and feature performances from a range of our musicians from beginners to our A Level musicians.
“We look forward to welcoming our prospective and current parents to this event on Wednesday 24 May,” said Mrs Henton, “and it’s all free so come along!”
