Student Support: Discover Programme
In order to support our potentially underachieving students in year 8 and 10 we have set up a programme to help motivate and encourage them to think about their achievement and possible academic success.
We held a meeting for parents of the 86 identified students on 27th March to which the parent(s) of 32 students attended. At this meeting we proposed the ideas and rationale for the programme and the reasons behind why we want to work with these students.
We also held an assembly for the students to explain to them what we wanted of them as part of this programme and to explain what we were going to put into place to support them and what we wanted of them in return.
Our main aim is to encourage these students to be successful both academically and in the broader sense – be able to leave school with the skills necessary to have their choice of career.
